Building a full-size electric dirt bikes

I started my electric dirt bike journey by purchasing a Talaria MX3 in 2022. The bike is super fun, but way underpowered, has poor suspension, and has the size of mid-size pit bike. I then went down the well-worn rabbit hole of buying performance enhancements: battery, controller, wheels, suspension upgrades, and more. At the end of the day, it is way more fun, tons of power, much better handling, and crazy fun to ride. But...I wanted my full size dirt bike!
When Stark Varg announced their bike I was one of the first to place an order (December of 2021!). Varg announced delay after delay, and I became despondent. Almost considered buying another ICE bike. It was bad! Then one day I was told about the Electro and Co kits to electrify existing modern dirt bikes. This idea made perfect sense to me. I was super excited when they announced a complete conversion kit for YZ250F/YZ450F platform and got my order in right away.
I ended up buying a a lightly used, low hour 2019 YZ250F with a ton of high-quality aftermarket parts on it I could strip off and sell. I had tried for months to finding a reasonably late model bike with blown engine or just a rolling chassis, but no luck.
I took the bike apart, sold the ICE motor and parts I did not need, had the fork and shock rebuilt, replaced all the suspension bearings and repacked the headset. Our engineering team at work helped with installation of the kit and next thing I knew I had a full-size electric dirt bike that rivaled the performance of any 250 4S bike I had ever ridden. It has 3 power settings and at the peak 28Kwh mode, it is putting out equivalent of 37 HP, but that is deceiving because power curve is smooth, gobs more torque than anything else, and an absolute blast to ride. Yes, was expensive, but a lot less than Varg and is a bike I can fully service myseld and parts are availablle from wide range of suppliers. I canceled my Varg order and very happy with this bike!
