Stealth Ride

I got my first electric dirt bike in December of 2022. It was a Talaria Sting MX3. At the time I also had a KTM 250XCW, but that was a handful, noisy, and not something I could ride around the neighborhood. I chose the Talaria over the Surron Light Bee because online reviews said the Talaria had a bigger cockpit and would be more comfortable for taller riders. When I got the bike, I immediately took it out for a spin around the block and was impressed by how quiet it is and the ease of riding it. What I quickly realized as the main feature was that I could ride it on local trails next to the railroad tracks without bothering anybody and that nobody would know I was even there! That opened a whole new world of easy access riding for me.
Make no mistake, I loved the power and versatility of my KTM 250 XCW. There is no comparison to the Talaria, but everybody within a 1-mile radius will know you are there when you fire up the KTM! It is noisy, a bit smokey, and a handful to ride. The Talaria is no beast, but wow is it fun to ride. Not only is it quiet, but it is also easy to handle, no gears, no clutch, and no need to worry about engine RPM or stalling. Tt is one of the most fun pit bikes ever!
Like all electric bike owners, I had to embark down the path of expensive modifications in search of more power and better suspension. I still have my Talaria, and I invested in a battery with higher voltage and capacity, a controller that can deliver a lot more power, bigger wheels, better tires, and a few other changes. All these mods make my Talaria a lot more fun and whole lot more powerful, but not anywhere near what the KTM could deliver in terms of power and handling. But that does not matter, because with the stealth that the Talaria has I can ride it right out of my driveway and down to local trails and get a quick ride in anytime without upsetting the neighbors or having the someone call the cops. And that is what made the Talaria so much fun and the bike that I used with the most frequency, until I converted a 2019 YZ250F to electric that is! But that is a story for another time!
